ACRYLIC STUDIES GALLERY 1

This gallery presents a selection of Simonson’s acrylic sketches and painted studies—works created with a greater degree of immediacy and freedom than his more fully developed paintings. Working primarily on paper, the artist uses these pieces to explore the male figure through color, gesture, composition, and expressive brushwork.

Because they are created as studies rather than formal studio paintings, they often retain visible traces of the painting process: quick decisions, abbreviated passages, unexpected color, and areas allowed to remain unresolved. The result is work that feels particularly direct and personal, offering a close look at Simonson’s instincts as a painter and at ideas captured while they are still fresh.

The selection changes regularly, so works shown here may be available only for a limited time before the gallery is refreshed.
