Started a new painting today. I sketched it onto the canvas pretty carefully, so that when it was time to start painting I could get totally reckless. I find the more energy I have at the beginning of the painting, the better.
The next day: I’ve added more visual information without getting bogged down in details. The painting still has energy!
Day 3: Finished! I did get a little more controlled in the finishing stages, but I was loose enough at the beginning that the painting still has some dynamism. I’m calling it “Specs.”
