Simonson Archives 1987
1987 was a big year for me because that’s the year I met Gina, who would become my partner in crime and best-ever model scout for many years to come. She also connected me with her stunning boyfriend Dwayne! That was also the year my Chinese-American friend Curtis modeled for me, as did my friend Peter Britos. It was also the year I produced one of my most popular paintings ever, Spooning It.
It was also a banner year for me because it was my first-ever visit to Brazil, a place I’d been dreaming of since my college days!
Dwayne, who came to me through his then-girlfriend Gina, was one of my best models of the late 1980s. Here he is on Oahu’s North Shore.
