This version of my Studio Journal in-progress reports is for Premium Content subscribers. This page gets the updates first, and includes materials not available in the Public and Members-Only versions (like timelapse videos). As a paid subscriber, you also have the option of putting your name on a list of those who will be notified first, and have first options to purchase, when a Project becomes a finished work of art.
ABOUT THE “MAKE A COMMENT” BUTTON: That button is there for everybody! Don’t feel you have to be an art expert or somehow “qualified” to make a comment. I want to hear from you, and if you’re a fan of my art, you’re qualified to make a comment. Thanks in advance for clicking that comment button and checking in with me. I appreciate it!

3. Project 2274: Second Painting Session
December 28, 2025
The second session was all about adding color to the body, and I made rapid progress because I was focused on not being too careful, on keeping the energy high and staying sloppy with big bold brushstrokes…because I think that makes for a more exciting, vibrant painting.
2. Project 2274: First Painting Session
December 26, 2025
I started the painting by covering the underdrawing with an acrylic wash, using my usual mixture of Burnt Umber and Dioxazine Purple. While that was drying, I mixed several shades of grey, then began roughing in the cushions of the sofa. Next I began work on the figure by roughing in the darkest darks of the hair and body. Next session I’ll begin adding color to the body.
1. Project 2274: Acrylic Nude of Mexican Model Enrique
December 24, 2025
I’m about to begin work on a new nude of Mexican model Enrique, working from a photo of him on a couch shot during our Puerto Vallarta photo-shoot back in 2018 (detail of the source image shown here). The next in-progress report will document the first painting session.
