Simonson Rough Sketches are original works but are grouped separately from the works in the Originals Gallery. Rough Sketches are rougher and less “finished” than the works in the Originals Gallery. Most are in pencil, but sometimes acrylic works are also considered rough sketches. They are often the result of practice sketching sessions, or are done as preparatory works for a major drawing or painting. Though we don’t put them in our Originals gallery, they are original art in every sense; they’re simply considered minor works rather than major ones. For that reason they are usually much more affordable than a major original. Many collectors value these works for their spontaneity and for the insight they offer into the artist’s creative process. They are also an excellent way to start building a collection. As originals, they come with a Certificate of Authenticity signed and authorized by the artist.Â
Exhibitions take place in this gallery regularly, usually every 2-3 weeks. The rough sketches showing in each exhibition are only available during the exhibition.
