6. Project 2267: Adding More Color, Starting to Refine Things
November 10, 2025
Here’s video from the latest session on Project 2267 I’m still adding color at this point, but I’m also starting to refine some areas where I had already added color.
5. Project 2267: Adding First Colors
November 8, 2025
Here’s video from the latest session on Project 2267. In this session I’m adding the first colors to the painting. I’m keeping the paint really wet, letting it drip, because those drips remind me to stay loose and not get too careful too early.
4. Project 2267: Outlining the sketch in black paint
November 5, 2025
Here’s video from the latest session on Project 2267, where I use black acrylic paint to outline the pencil sketch I put on canvas in the previous session. This is an important step because I do my best to put some life and personality into the lines as I’m painting them–I don’t want them to be consistent, I want them to be lively and interesting.
3. Project 2267: Sketching onto the Canvas
November 4, 2025
Here’s video from the first session on project 2267. Here I’m sketching right onto the canvas, referring to the photograph and to my preliminary sketches, but adding to it and refining it as I draw.
2. Project 2267: First Sketches
November 1, 2025
Here’s some video showing me sketching ideas for the painting. I was trying to simplify the forms as much as possible while still saying what I wanted to say. I like what I’m getting here, so I feel almost ready to start putting it onto canvas.
1. Project 2267: Preview
October 31, 2025
Here’s a preview of what I’m planning for my next painting. I found this photo online and I liked the guy’s attitude and pose, but I didn’t llike the background. So I experimented with some photos I shot in the garden of my home here in Puerto Vallarta. I liked the results and decided yes, this will be my next painting. I’m about to begin work on the actual painting. Stay tuned for progress reports.
